"The place where three really IS a magic number!" A radio program for kids and families that airs Saturdays from 9-10 AM EST on WRFL, 88.1 FM in Lexington KY.

Playlist 6/7/08

IT’S 6/7/8!!! Or it was on Saturday, anyway. I know it’s silly, but I get excited about these things, and had been waiting for 6/7/8 ever since 5/6/7. Unfortunately, I was unable to commemorate the date on Ages 3 and Up! because of technical problems (the microphones weren’t working- it’s okay, though… they’re fixed now). So.. we started off the show with some jazz this week, which turned into songs about magic and THEN, we heard the story of “The Unsuccessful Elf”- a personal fave! Here’s what was played:

Sun Ra and His Intergalactic Arkestra– “Zip A Dee Doo Dah”- Second Star to the Right (Salute to Walt Disney)
Oscar Peterson feat. Clark Terry– “Mumbles”- v/a Jazz for Kids: Sing, Wiggle, Clap and Shake
The Coctails– “Old Gray Mare”- The Early Hi Ball Years
The King Cole Trio– “Kee Mo Ky Mo (The Magic Song)”- v/a Nicky’s Jazz for Kids
Johnny Cash– “Little Magic Glasses”- The Johnny Cash Children’s Album
Secret Agent 23 Skidoo– “Luck”- Easy
Woody Guthrie– “Riding in My Car (Car Song)”- Nursery Days
The Delgados– “Mr. Blue Sky”- All You Need is Hate (but we don’t really feel that way at Ages 3 and Up! )
Paul Wing– “The Unsuccessful Elf”- Kiddie Records Weekly 2005 Disc 1
Michael Hearst– “Ice Cream Yo!”- Songs for Ice Cream Trucks
Care Bears on Fire– “Met You on MySpace”- I Stole Your Animal
Sam Hinton– “The Frog Song”- Whoever Shall Have Some Good Peanuts
Kermit The Frog– “Bein’ Green”- The Muppet Show: Music, Mayhem, and More!
Lisa Loeb and Elizabeth Mitchell– “Butterfly”- Catch the Moon
The Free Design– “Children’s Waltz”- Sing for Very Important People
We went a little long this week- check out the show below. Here’s looking forward to 7/8/9!
