HAPPY NEW YEAR!
This week on Ages 3 and Up! we had a miniature celebration of Kid-O’s 7th birthday, featuring one of his faves, Peter and the Wolf. I’m partial the the David Bowie narration, featured on the recording pictured above, so that’s the one we played. The recording featuring Dame Edna is recommended, as well. We also played:
World Standard– “Tic Tac”- v/a Childish Music
Stuart Staples– “Hey, Don’t You Cry”- v/a Songs For The Young At Heart
Lullatone– “Make Believe Melody #2”- The Bedtime Beat
Barry Louis Polisar– “I Need You Like a Doughnut Needs a Hole”- Old Dogs, New Tricks
Kimya Dawson– “Wiggle My Tooth”- Alphabutt
They Might Be Giants– “Seven”- Here Come The 123’s
Medeski, Martin and Wood– “Pat-A-Cake”- Let’s Go Everywhere
The Jimmies– “Somebody’s Birthday”- Make Your Own Someday
Dog On Fleas– “Unbirthday”- Beautiful World
David Bowie and the Phildelphia Orchestra– “Peter and the Wolf”- Peter and the Wolf
Lake– “On The Swing”- Oh, The Places We’ll Go
Renee and Jeremy– “Free”- It’s a Big World
Anathallo– “If You’re Happy and You Know It”- v/a For The Kids Three
Frances England– “Tugboat”- Family Tree
I mentioned that Anathallo have a new release, but didn’t tell you anything about it. (Oops!) It’s called Canopy Glow. I’m still not gonna tell you anything about it, except that it doesn’t really sound like what I played, I like it, and you can hear tracks from it on their MySpace page. Go listen- maybe you’ll like it too!
