Playlist 7/31/10
We had a lot going on this week on Ages 3 and Up!. In addition to playing new music from the Many Hands: Family Music For Haiti compilation, Pete Seeger, and The Okee Dokee Brothers, we had special guests in the studio. Sydney, Caitlin and David came in to talk to us about the upcoming benefit for Almira Fawn. Some of you might remember that Almira visited our show recently. Unfortunately, she lost her mom just days afterward. The local music community has been coming together to support Almira in her time of loss by organizing a series of benefit concerts. And, of course, we were glad to help spread the word. We also played a bunch of songs about magic, featuring the Dukas classic, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” We were figuring a lot of families might have seen the recent Disney action/adventure film who might not have read the poem or heard the song on which it was based- so we played it! AND we played some Wizard Rock, in honor of the Wizard Wrock Wroundup!, which was held at The Morris Book Shop on August 2nd. For those of you unfamiliar, Wizard Rock, is a musical trend that features bands and artists making music about the Harry Potter series of books. Pretty fun!
Here’s what we played:
