"The place where three really IS a magic number!" A radio program for kids and families that airs Saturdays from 9-10 AM EST on WRFL, 88.1 FM in Lexington KY.

Playlist 4/19/08

Thanks to all the nice people who called me this week, and to those who listened but didn’t call. Oddly, I played almost exactly what I intended to play on Ages 3 and Up!– it rarely happens. Included were songs about unruly dogs, FreeKY Fest previews, songs about ice cream, a couple of songs about kites and a couple of songs about the alphabet.

One of the songs about ice cream was from Frances England’s new release, Family Tree, which I really really like. If you dug Lisa Loeb and Elizabeth Mitchell’s work on Catch the Moon, or are into the folky-pop thing, then you’ll probably be as enamoured of this record as I.

Here’s what was played:

The Flaming Lips– “Big Ol’ Bug is the New Baby Now”- v/a Colours Are Brighter
Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals– “Big Ol’ Dog”- Runaround Kid
The Deedle Deedle Dees– “Obedience School”- Freedom in a Box
Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine– “I Love the Animals”- s/t forthcoming
Snow Monster!- “Rock ‘N Roll Nicole”- Ready in Seconds
Pezhead and the Blipsquad– “Kiss My Neurons”- The Soundtrack to “Plantimal”
Jolie Holland– “The Littlest Birds”-Catalpa
Apples in Stereo– “Liza Jane”- v/a Dimension Mix
Big Fresh– “WLUV”- Big Fresh Forever
Frances England– “I Scream, You Scream”- Family Tree
Twink– “Lemon Sublime”- Ice Cream Truckin’
Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers– “Ice Cream Man”- Roadrunner, Roadrunner: The Beserkley Collection
Sam Hinton– “Whoever Shall Have Some Good Peanuts”- Whoever Shall Have Some Good Peanuts
Glissandro 70– “Voices Are Your Best Friends”- v/a See You on the Moon!
Duplex– “Mr. Slim”- Ablum
Cast of Mary Poppins– “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”- Mary Poppins Original Soundtrack
The Free Design– “Kites Are Fun”- Sing for Very Important People
Johnny Cash– “Ah Bos Cee Dah”- The Johnny Cash Children’s Album
Alan Mills– “Animal Alphabet Song”- v/a Smithsonian Folkways Children’s Music Collection

The artists with tracks highlighted in GREEN will be performing at WRFL‘s FreeKY Fest this weekend! Join us at the transit center, downtown Lexington, Saturday at 11 a.m- ABSOLUTE fun!
