Ablum by Duplex is my favorite record this week.
A list of reasons I like this ablum- I mean album:
-The pull along doggie on the kid art inspired cover. Arf!
-The fact that the members of Duplex range in age from 3 to 35 years.
-The kids in the band helped write and play the music.
-It’s musically interesting.
-They sing songs about salad, human cloning, and Maurice Sendak’s “Little Bear.”
-They cover a Bob Dorough/Schoolhouse Rock tune.
-The band looks happy in their picture.
More thoughts:
-My favorite song is “Lookit Me!”.
-I like the Ramones, but didn’t care for the Ramones reference in “Yr Mama.” It seemed misplaced.
-I don’t think the “Bethlehem” they’re singing of is the well known holy city. It must be somewhere in Canada. Or maybe they’re singing of Bethlehem KY?
-“Lament of the House Rabbit” is kind of weird. My kid agrees.
